Creating and managing maps

Create maps, add waypoints and layers, and delete or share a map.

Last updated on July 12, 2026

A map is your worksheet in the terrain: this is where you place waypoints, draw routes, add layers, and attach reports. Maps can be stored in the cloud (Drive) or locally.

Creating a map

  1. 1

    Open Maps

Tap Maps in the bottom bar, then tap New map.

  2. 2

    Choose Drive, Local, or Import

Just like with missions, you decide where the map lives. Local works fully offline.

  3. 3

Name it and open the map

The map opens right away and is ready for waypoints and routes.

Adding waypoints and layers

Use Add waypoint to place points (with a name and coordinate). In the layers panel you toggle built-in layers on/off and import your own GeoJSON layers.

Mountain terrain

On the map you can enable terrain-analysis layers — Slope, Aspect, and Avalanche terrain — to see at a glance whether terrain is passable.

Sharing or deleting a map

  • Share — open the menu and choose Share map for a read-only share link.
  • Delete — from the overview: swipe or open a map's options and choose delete.

Map limit

Free accounts can store a limited number of maps. Hit the limit? Delete an old map or upgrade your subscription.
