The Gefechtsübungszentrum Altmark (GÜZ) in the Letzlingen Heath in Saxony-Anhalt is the Bundeswehr's most modern combat training centre. On this vast site, German army units and allies train under realistic conditions, supported by extensive simulation and recording systems that capture every exercise in detail.
Its standout feature is the artificial training city Schnöggersburg, built for combat in urban terrain and urban warfare. Around it stretch heath, coniferous forest and open plains. For coordinating units and directing fire, the MGRS grid is the standard. On this page you'll find the MGRS zone, terrain features and an interactive map and 3D view.
