The Weerterheide lies south of Weert in Limburg, a stone's throw from the Belgian border and directly adjacent to the De Kempen training area near Budel. The heathland with fens and pine forest is used for infantry exercises, bivouacs and driver training, often combined with the neighbouring areas — together they form one of the larger contiguous training grounds of the southern Netherlands.
The nearly flat terrain with scattered fens calls for careful route planning: wet ground is better avoided before departure than en route. Positions and routes are shared in MGRS here. On this page you'll find the Weerterheide's MGRS zone, terrain features and an interactive map with 3D view of the area.
