Who is MilMap Starter for?
MilMap Starter is the free entry-level version for individual users. You get access to the core features: route planning, offline maps, MGRS coordinates, GPX import, and basic topography. For recreational hikers, scouts, and hobbyist navigators, Starter is entirely sufficient.
What does MilMap Pro add?
Pro adds the professional features required for serious operational deployment. The most requested additions are: unlimited map storage (Starter is limited to five maps), high-resolution PDF route book export, creating and exporting SALUTE reports, team maps with multiple users, and priority customer support.
Map layers and offline areas
Starter offers one offline map region at a time — ideal for a planned route, but limited for operations where you switch between areas. Pro gives unlimited offline regions, including military topographic map layers (DTED) and high-resolution satellite imagery.
SALUTE and reporting
SALUTE reports are exclusive to Pro users. This is the most requested feature for military units: structured enemy reports with timestamp, location (MGRS), unit size, and activity. Reports are exported as PDF or forwarded digitally via the team.
Team features
Starter is a single-user application. Pro supports up to ten team members on one licence. Team maps synchronise automatically and everyone sees the same version. The team leader manages permissions: read-only for operational team members, editing rights for planners.
Pricing and advice
Starter is free and will remain so. Pro is available monthly or annually, with a discount for the annual subscription. Advice: start with Starter to learn the interface. If you find yourself wanting to export route books or work with a team, switch to Pro. The upgrade takes less than a minute.
